Industrial coatings, or high performance coatings, are defined by their function rather than being aesthetically pleasing. They are anti-corrosive in nature and help maintain and protect carbon steel from the elements and wear. When applied correctly, industrial coatings provide peak protection against corrosion, temperature fluctuations, and particle abrasion. The industrial coating application process includes a primer, followed by a full coating, then a sealant for extra protection.
While the primary purpose of industrial coatings is anti-corrosion, they can be applied for different reasons. Industrial coatings may be used to:
- Protect materials from physical damage, heavy wear and tear, and heat or fire.
- Provide a non-slip surface on floors and machining surfaces.
- Repel dirt and other contaminants.
