Abrasive Blasting
Abrasive blasting is a process that shoots pieces of abrasive materials (blasting media) out of a nozzle powered by pressurized air. This process can be thought of as pressure washing with small particles rather than (and sometimes in conjunction with) water. Media blasting is the most effective option for paint stripping, rust removal or corrosion restoration on metal.
Every operating facility or industrial plant needs to stay clean and free of debris in order to run properly and efficiently. Our sandblasting team effectively and carefully removes tough materials such as caked-on debris, rust and paint with the best media blasting technique tailored to your specific project.
Proper Abrasive Blasting is the key to any successful coating process. At Hy-Blast we work with a variety of materials. From course aggressive material to fine glassbead, we have the right abrasive for your job or project. We are familiar with a variety of materials such as and not limited to:
We offer a wide variety of blasting media:
Mineral: Garnet. Garnet is a safe, effective and efficient replacement to sand.
Agricultural: Crushed walnut shells and corncob. These abrasives are soft and do not cause damage to the underlying material while still removing paint and discoloration.
Synthetic: Nickel slag, copper slag or coal slag, aluminum oxide and glass bead, plastic, cullet, crushed glass and plastic abrasives.
Metallic: Steel grit and steel shot. These abrasives are aggressive, best suited for removing paint and rust from used machinery or equipment.
Additional Media: We offer many other different media available for special processes/projects.
We Are Technical Experts
Because not all methods work for all types of equipment and applications, it is important to work with a contractor who has the technical expertise to ensure the correct method is being used for your particular project. Hy-Blast’s team of experts will assess your cleaning project (scope, size, scale) and also take extra care to evaluate any potential environmental or regulatory issues to devise the most cost-effective abrasive blasting solution for you.
